Xiaowei, Gui. Ph.D. in Sociology (Copenhagen University), Doctor of Laws (Wuhan University), Assistance Professor in Department of Sociology in Wuhan University.
I have obtained two bachelor’s degrees respectively in Finance and Economic Law from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2002; a master’s degree in Law from Wuhan University in 2006; and a doctor’s degree in Law from Wuhan University in 2010. During my PhD studies, I have finished a joint training PhD program of 18 months in Danish Institute for Human Rights supported by the Chinese government. I got another Doctor’s degree in sociology from University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 2015.
My main research interests lie in Sociology of Law and Political Sociology. My current special concern focuses on social protest and social stability, and cultural comparative study on rights. I have published one translation and 13 papers in core journals such as CSSCI in China, and one works which I have been on the editorial board has won one national award. My research has been subsidized by three fund programmes abroad. I have taught 435 class hours on Chinese Society and Politics in University of Copenhagen, and have held the post of Programme Advisor for China Quick Check, a programme committed to improving workers’ rights and interests, in Danish Institute for Human Rights.
