Dr Zhidong Hao graduated from the university of New York City, is a professor of sociology at the university of macau and director of the contemporary Chinese social science research center.Research fields include intellectuals, cross-strait relations, history and society of macau, the development of macau gaming industry, the development of China's rural areas, social movement, the responsibility of the social sciences, and other issues.His work is published in professional journals or books in the United States, Britain, Canada, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and other places. Some popular articles discussing the political and social issues of mainland, Taiwan and macau often published in newspapers and magazines.
His works written in English are Social Issues in China: Gender, Ethnicity; Labor, and the Environment(Springer,New York press, 2014),Macau History and Society(Hong Kong university press and macau university , 2011),Whither Taiwan and Mainland China: National Identity: the State, and Intellectuals( Hong Kong university press ,2011),Intellectuals at a Crossroads：The Changing Politics of Chinas Knowledge Workers(New York State university press, 2003).
